Why we exist

In 2022, a state-sponsored Iranian group breached a company. Not with a zero-day. With a vulnerability that had sat in the backlog for months. Known, scored, prioritized, assigned to the right team. It just never got fixed.
Ofer Amitai was running that company. What stayed with him wasn’t that the tools had failed, because they hadn’t. They found the vulnerability, rated it, and queued it behind thousands of others. Exactly what they were built to do.
The real problem: finding an exposure and resolving it are two different jobs. The first is automated. The second runs on people, tickets, and handoffs, and can’t keep pace. No better scanner fixes that. It’s how the whole category is built, around tasks that pile up instead of decisions that hold.

Ofer had lived that failure. Elad Ben Meir and Tom Winter had seen their own versions of it. The three founded Onit together around one idea: stop routing exposures ticket by ticket. Make the judgment call once, then let AI agents carry that decision across every exposure it touches, now and every time it returns. That’s decision-based exposure management.

    Ofer co-founded Portnox and led it as CEO to become a leader in network access control. Before that, Microsoft’s Regional Director of Security. Earlier, he founded and led Unit 180, the Israeli Air Force’s cyber division.

  • Tom Winter CTO

    Tom co-founded For-Each, acquired by Autodesk within a year, then ran Autodesk Israel as GM for nearly a decade, leading engineering teams of over 100. He started as a captain in Mamram, the IDF’s elite software and computing unit.
